Here is our May update

Dear friends, family and Kwathu partners

Here is our update for May

It looks like May was a month of more preparation for ministry and what the Lord is going to do for us, the children and the ladies working with us. Since we started morning devotion with the ladies, we have seen the hand of the Lord upon our lives and the work we are doing for the children’s home. Two of our ladies asked for the power of the Holy Spirit as in the baptism of the Holy Spirit and as we prayed, the power of the Holy Ghost was manifested and it was evident that the Lord is in control. These are two ladies who have committed their lives to work with kwathu children as care givers and we can openly see the love of God in them as they play and love the children. One of these ladies is widow and the other one is divorced with 5 children.  These mothers have struggled a lot since the separation with their husband.

As in Ezekiel 36: 25

I will sprinkle clean water on you and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.

For Gods desire is to cleanse us and make us pure for his service and he will surely set us apart, wash us of all impurities, remove the heart of stone and replace it with a heart of flesh and his spirit will enable us to follow hard after him.

In May we started a vegetable garden as a supplement for expensive vegetables at our market while providing a balanced diet to all our children and staff. This project is meant to expand once we have our own land for there will be enough space to grow all kinds of vegetables for our children staff and any surplus will be sold.

Apart from the vegetable garden, we have also started a small poultry business at our premises also as a nutrition supplement for the orphans but also for income generation. So far we are growing 100 birds (chickens) which will be ready in the next 4 weeks. We believe God blesses the work of our hands and everything we do.  Deuteronomy 28:8 >The Lord will bless everything you do and will fill your storehouses with grain. The Lord your God will bless you in the Land he is giving you.

The beginning of last month we decided to be taking children to Mukuni Part in the city center of Livingstone every Sunday so that they can play with other children as well. This move has make our children reach out and play with other children of the same age hence reducing stigma of them being orphaned. They love it so much that Sunday afternoon is their best time out and they make sure we are tired by the end of the day.

The other activity they enjoyed the most was the Victoria Falls; we took the whole team to visit the falls and it was awesome for them to witness this magnificent Gods creation. This was their first visit to the Victoria Falls since they were born and this is just a few kilometers from were they lived.

We will stay in the line of our vision concerning children’s ministry; our vision is for a socially just community in which all children have equitable access to education, shelter, support, care, love and have a place to call home.

We are looking forward to hear from you as to how you can partner with us to meet the needs of these underprivileged children in our society. Your donation in kind goes a long way; for while others see children, we see people with a great potential to succeed and become who they ever dreamed to be. This is a great call not just for us but for everyone who has a heart and a passion for such children.

We thank all of you for your continued and unreserved support to this ministry, you are a blessing.
