On March 11th Gertrude turned 10, and we had a celebration that Friday! There were games, dancing, presents, and a homemade cake that she helped make to enjoy on her special day. With the money she was given to spend at Shoprite she picked out a cute doll and some yummy chocolate. In the evening we all enjoyed watching a movie together at home.
A friend of ours, Justine Samba, has a children ministry that operates in a local community. He told us about a passionate preschool teacher who was in need of school materials; that was enough to get us excited. On a Friday morning we drove to the preschool with a team from South Africa (Global Challenge) to get a glimpse of daily life at the school and bless them with some materials. We had such a nice time playing with the children and seeing that although the teacher had little, what she does and the impact she makes, is not little at all. Every day she teaches about 70 kids in the morning, and another 70 in the afternoon. She is such a beautiful example of someone woo is gifted and reaches out to others with that gift.
The kids at Kwathu are taking their semester exams during the first week of April, so we’ve just been busy studying and preparing to get good grades! After this week it’s time for holiday! As the new semester approaches, we are in need of money for the children’s school fees. If it’s on your heart to contribute to this need, please let us know. We are thankful for each and every one of you who has a friendship with Kwathu. You are special to us!
Give in proportion to what you have. Whatever you give is acceptable long if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have, not what you don’t have. 2 Corinthians 8:11, 12
